And in that time, I've been eating at a lot of new spots - some of which have quickly become favorite spots of mine. So, thought I'd quickly mention one of them:
I'd have to say, of all the places I've stuffed my face of late, Ippudo NY on 4th Ave is far and away, my favorite. Always packed, but never takes too long to get seated. And while you wait at the bar that is glassed over ramen noodles, sip the Ginga Kogen Japanese white beer and some unfiltered sake. When they call your name to be seated, you'll leave the bar and walk into the loud as hell dining room, where it seems all the wait staff is yelling the various orders that are coming out of the kitchen. It's not an annoying yell though- it's cool and makes you feel like something really important is going on in there. The dining room is a neat design- on the left, big banquest booths; in the middle, big regtangular tables where you sit communal-style, but chairs are far enough apartment that you don't mind- in fact, it only adds to the experience. Wait staff is incredibly helpful in recommendations, but honestly- you can't really go wrong. My sworn order: pork buns, chicken wings, and the Akamaru Modern, swallowed down with lots of beer and sake. I'm a Rai Rai Ken fan, but I gotta say, nuttin' can hold a candle to this Ippudo soup...
